Welcome to 2024!

Our choir was formed in 1997 so we have been singing for over 25 years in Perth!

We are a not-for-profit community choir and you can find us at the Old Midland Courthouse in Midland, Western Australia.

Members meet weekly to sing a wide range of songs and enjoy the warmth, friendliness and sociability that go with belonging to such a group.  See our ‘Contact Us’ page for information about membership and coming along to watch us rehearse.

Our choir is fortunate indeed to have experienced and dedicated musician Richard Braham as our Musical Director.

Our welcome back long time supporters Mundaring Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank and welcome our newest partner the City of Swan Midland Public Library.

About Us

The Swan Harmony Singers is a community choir. We hold weekly rehearsals on Tuesday evenings between 7pm  and 9pm at the  Old Midland Courthouse on Helena Street in Midland.

We have a main choir that is capped at 40 members and last year we started our new smaller choir – the Cygnets – which is capped at 14 members and perform different works to the main choir.

We rehearse from January to December and usually take a 4 week break over Christmas/New Year. We perform several times a year singing combinations of songs from last year and this year’s repertoire depending on how advanced we are with the current year’s songs. The songs we sing are generally in three- or four-part harmony and obviously it helps if you can read music. However, it is not essential and plenty of our current members do not read music at all.

We normally only accept new members in the first quarter of each year, and we have reached our member cap for 2024. If you are interested in joining the choir in 2025 and beyond, please register your details with us by using the link below.

Considering becoming a member?

We have a three-week new member intake process so that you can come along to 3 weekly practices (preferably consecutively) without charge. If, at any time in this period, you decide you would like to join us, you can complete the necessary application form and this will swiftly be dealt with by the choir committee.

The Songs we Sing

The choir sings a wide variety of music including jazz, swing, sacred and pop, plus the occasional classical piece.

We sing four-part harmony songs, but don’t let that scare you off!

As we said before, you don’t need to read music, although that is a definite advantage; you just need to enjoy singing and be prepared to make a reasonable commitment to attend rehearsals regularly.
